Welcome Guest!
Our speaker after the Friday Night dinner will be Mr Chris Winters. He will be speaking on the construction of the Dennis Sullivan Schooner.
Chris Winters is a Milwaukee-based photojournalist specializing in Great Lakes maritime subjects. Chris is currently the staff photographer at Discovery World museum, and has been for over twenty years the official unofficial photographer of Wisconsin’s flagship, the S/V Denis Sullivan.
Smitten with the lore of lake boats and the mythology surrounding the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald at a young age, Winters is a veteran shipwreck diver, three term board member of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society, and an associate member of the International Shipmaster’s Association.
His book “Centennial” was awarded the Steamship Historical Society of America’s C. Bradford Mitchell award in 2010, and the Detroit Marine Historical Society awarded Chris their Great Lakes Historian of the Year award in 2017. His documentary work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the region.
